NEW F&B OPERATIONS – Husband and Wife Join Goring & Streatley



Ex Head Chef and Proprietor of local Award Winning Miller of Mansfield joins G&S Golf Club as Executive Chef, whilst wife Mary Galer oversees the Food and Beverage Front of House.  Mary and Nick have worked together all their lives together and say that they are ‘ying and yang’ but joked, Nick plays bad cop vs Mary’s good cop!

After an 8 year tenure at The Miller of Mansfield, it sadly came to an end after rent was increased a lucrative 90% and the couple knew it was time for pastures new.

After Shaun Doran, on the board of directors at G&C Golf Club paid a visit to Mary, and other successful meetings subsequently took place with Sarah Heath, the newly appointed GM, Mary and Nick took the plunge and said “they could see its huge potential and would be excited by the challenge that lay ahead”. Shaun stated that the club want the vison for F&B to match the award winning golf course standard, set very high by award winning greenkeeper Matt Aplin.

Nick and Mary have since been focussed on the setting up of new procedures, SOP’s and team training to bring the F&B sales back to the club and to ensure that the clubs menu is feasible and inspired to appeal to golf members and external customers alike as locals and visitors are encouraged to visit. Mary and Nick left The Miller of Mansfield in January 2022 just as it was announced that after 8 years they featured in the Top 100, number 52.

Mary and Nick intend to reintroduce Sunday lunches very soon and have already started taster nights every month at £35 5 courses and £20 for 4 matching wine flights.  Further events will continue and bookings or enquiries can be directed to Mary at or by calling 01491 873229 #4
