What Our New Members Say
At long last I have found time to write to tell you (as opposed to simply telling you in person)how impressed I have been by the way you personally have given me so much assistance in getting to know members and in becoming involved. I have belonged to various golf clubs from time to time and have never previously encountered any such attempt to integrate new members.
A belated message to say how much I appreciate you and your other colleagues efforts in making me feel so welcome since I joined Goring & Streatley GC.
I have joined two roll up groups and the members are very welcoming and friendly. The course during the summer was in excellent condition particularly the greens and I hope to play a lot more golf in 2017.
With very best wishes to you and everybody at G&SGC for Xmas and the New Year.
Firstly I just wanted to say very much enjoying playing at the club the last few week or so… should have joined years ago!
Hi Jenny / Keith, Thank you so much for your warm welcome and hospitality earlier today. Your service has been fantastic throughout my joining process. I can’t wait to get started on Sunday! Thanks
Some time ago (apologies) you asked me for an email about how much we are enjoying playing at Goring and Streatley Golf Club.
Being absolute beginners was a real challenge but under the patient guidance of Ben and Matt we are making steady progress to something that resembles a golf swing and the myriad of rules and regulations. We try and play regularly for obvious reasons and enjoy walking round the beautiful course with the challenges of the gradient on one side of the road and the relief at getting to hole 5 to 13 for a rest before tackling holes for 14-18. The half way house is much appreciated at this point.
We have found everyone friendly and really appreciate it when we are asked to join the folks in front as we always learn something about golf from them even over two or three holes, I can’t imagine that would happen in any other sport.
Please extend our thanks to everyone who works at Goring and Streatley Golf Club on our behalf for their patience and good humour, especially with the novices and in the challenging environment we are living in during lock down 2.
Please can I take this opportunity to say how much of a pleasure it is to receive all these really informative, interesting and very with the times emails. So nice to be kept fully up to date.

During my very short time as a member (joined July this year from Donnington Valley) I have been really impressed by the day to day running of Goring and Streatley Golf Club. As you know I and approx 18 others came across after losing our membership at DVGC, since being here I can honestly say it’s been a pleasure – even with some dodgy scoring by myself. I had served on the committee at DV in comps and ran our old scratch team so understand the dedication by all involved, but this year has been so different and must have been ten times trickier, great job!
What has impressed me so much though is the amount of communication from all relevant areas of the club, at no point do I feel I don’t know what’s going on and why, well only when I don’t pay attention to the comps but that’s my fault haha. The email from the our head greens keeper was brilliant, explained what, why and how needed to be done on our course to keep it in such good condition and that video a stroke of genius!
I look forward to getting back to playing golf again soon, albeit maybe wet and cold but that’s the good old British autumn/winter weather.
Thanks for all the hard work across the club and see you at the club soon!
